On the principle of no fear, no favour, it would be worthwhile to know if any other analyst / commentator on this Proxy War posted figures remotely close to the one million, save those from the military and intelligence agencies who have other means to determine estimates - ie: tapping Kyiv agencies, satellite photos of Ukrainian graveyards, totaling death notices.

I believe that vertical governance makes it easy for them to consistently subvert, corrupt, and control all governments while creating the illusion of democracy and freedom by allowing elections. I'm glad you didn't say infectious disease killed indigenous people- i can see no evidence for it- but if you separate people from land, animals, way of life, stress them and terrify them- this will also cause disease and kill them.
The scientific reductionist western model has separated us from our bodies, the land, 'nature', each other and other animals and keeps a huge population alive with pharma, alcohol, junk food and disembodied media entertainment but fat, sick and on drugs just the way they like it.
Populations decreases with increasing GDP and education of women, economies could diverge into care and services not just consummable products.
But i agree i think this civilisation is destroying itself.

4. The war was also intended to weaken Putin: peace will mean his ousting. War corpses are the price to pay in democracy.
5. There was a chance to get the Ukraine into NATO. Even if Russia won, they would only ask what they asked in the beginning: autonomy for the Donbas russian people and NATO demilitarization of the Ukraine (what triggered the pre-emptive invasion).
6. This is the most important: the war was used as a smokescreen for Zelensky's religious persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church: he closed the monasteries and many churches... just as the lockdowns were a smokescreen for the persecution of all religions.
